geog fieldtrip to kuantan
Monday, May. 01, 2006, 9:07 p.m.

i'm back with a lot of mozzie bites, 1 pair of worn-out shoes, 1 pair of worn-out sandals and tanned skin.

day1:
erm, nothing much interesting except for the limestone cave that is filled with batshit.

class at the foot of the limestone cave

went to a very ulu hill resort (no telephone and in the middle of a forest) that overlooks a oil palm plantation. beautiful view with a bloody steep hill to climb from the reception desk to our chalets. belinda calls our chalets "shanty towns". geee.

our "shanty town" from the bottom of the hill

day2:
pretty sunrise over the plantation.

then plantation, which is boring. oops.

travelled east to kuantan where we climbed the precarious charahs cave. very dangerous with shaky handrails (which is actually close to non-existent), eroded steep footpath (leaving nth to step on but loose soil and roots). but we made it up in the end. it was very tough climbing down the steep slope of the tower karst.

the tower karst that we scrambled climbed.

at the top of the karst

then talk on tourism by some guy from pahang tourism board which was interesting.

after that, bernanrd, pam, nicole crashed into our room and watched the m'sia's version of project superstar grand finals. oh my goodness, the guy sucks and he still won the girl (who sang a little more in tune only). the guy totally slaughtered david tao's "ai hen jian dan". he could not reach any high note AT ALL. so the chorus of "I love you" part sounded like, "I ... you..." even adilah who heard the original song just once cld hear that the guy ruined the song. so why did he still win?! oh my goodness. the standard made me wonder if it is the real grand finals.

day3:

sunrise at kuantan.

day3 is wet day. went to pandan waterfalls and the river in the lower course for river studies, collecting data, etc. our group collected the river data damn fast while other groups were still collecting theirs (wahaha, the advantage of doing 14 spa sessions in 2 years: fast collection of data) so we just snapped away again and took some drama photo. and that is when my sandals broke. -_-

in the middle of the river.
shopping at town. which ends up with nth bought. haha.

then went to beach for more geog. it was freakin hot and humid and we were just climbing up and down BIG boulders (boulders that are higher than me).

that's my geog tutor as a scale.

day4:
went to quarry for more geog (duhhh.) saw some really nice rills and gullies. the gullies are so deep that they are about 1.75m in depth. yea, then climbed up and down rocks again.

trapped in the deep gully

the whole geog group at the quarry.

then slept all the way back to sg.

the fun part of the whole trip was climbing up and down rocks, feeling the adrenaline (cos i would have died if i just slipped and fell), and just laughing at pple squealing at bugs and seeing benard doing crab-nocide (mass killing of hermit crabs for their shells)

aiyo, back to school again tmr.
